Monthly Meetings (Open to Public)

Meetings are held Sept. through May (except in Dec.) on the 2nd Tuesday of those months at 6:30 pm at the Fiesta Guadalajara restaurant meeting room (in Meridian).

Picnic Trials

The Program is jointly sponsored by the Idaho Brittany Club and the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Idaho.  The purpose of the Program is to prepare dogs and their owners for the official AKC Hunting Tests. Also to help members not participating in Hunt Tests to evaluate the training status of their dogs after the hunting season in a controlled situation. A major goal is to give members opportunities to learn how to safely gun, plant birds, judge, and administer a Hunt Test.  It is also a way to continue to get keep your dog in the field after the end of hunting season and the January cold snap.

Chukar-O-Rama

One of our most popular (and competitive) club events.  Each contestant starts with their dog, 5 shells and 10 minutes on an open cheat-grass covered hill to hunt up 3 chukars (point, shoot, and retrieve).

Summer Training

Our summer training program trains handlers on how to train their dogs.  Our club members commit and invest time, energy, and resources taking our club members and thus our dogs to the next level.  Training sessions can include:

  • Introduction to Birds

  • Simulate hunt/point situation

  • Introduction to the sound of gun fire

  • Introduction to water and water retrieving

  • Honoring

Summer Picnic and Water Retrieve

Our annual summer picnic and water retrieve is a fun club event to help cool down our dogs in the middle of summer.  It is a full day of activities starting with a sporting clay shooting, then a wonderful lunch, and finally the finale - the water retrieve competition with our dogs.

Calendar Contest

The Annual Calendar Photo Contest was started in 2006.  There were many goals behind this contest.  We wanted club members to show off their talent and increase their skills in the art of photography.  We also wanted to encourage members to take pictures of their dogs so they can treasure them long into the future.  Finally, we wanted to produce a "kick-butt" calendar that shows our incredible dog and the things they do!

Holiday Party

Our annual Holiday Party celebrates the achievements made throughout the year, including the "Dog of the Year" award.  Club members bring their favorite side dish or desert, their longest pheasant or chukar tail feather (and a tall tale to go with it), and a low cost ($15 or less) gift per attendee for the traditional gift exchange.  And to top it off, we have our annual GSPCI Calendars for sale and they make wonderful gifts for this holiday season.
